| Metadata Description: | The USGS and NASA have teamed up to bring the public stunning images of the Earth taken by the Landsat-7 satellite and the Terra Satellite's Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER). The images can be used as supplementary materials during educational lectures about rock outcrops, deserts, deltas, clouds, glaciers, and many other earth science topics. This image gallery features aesthetically interesting satellite images of earth captured by Landsat 7 and the Terra satellite's Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER). Various combinations of the eight Landsat 7 spectral bands were selected to create the red-green-blue (RGB) composites presented in the gallery. The gallery can be browsed by clicking on an interactive world map, by selecting links to geographic regions, or by an alphabetical index. The images are downloadable and are accompanied by a title, date, caption, orbital row and path information, and image center coordinates. They are available in a choice of file formats (JPEG or TIFF) and resolutions. |
