News and Information
NSDL News and Information services are provided to improve communications with and among groups interested in participating in NSDL; keep partners, collaborators, stakeholders and the public up-to-date about NSDL activities, and services; and evaluate and report on the impact of activities.
The NSDL Community Network site is the primary mechanism for NSDL news and information: an interactive, participatory community platform and information source enabling sharing of ideas, announcements, updates, project activities, conversations, and collaboration for the community of projects, services, people and partnerships that comprise the National Science Digital Library (NSDL), and that are recipients of funding from the National Science Foundation's National STEM Distributed Learning program. The Community Network site also serves as an information source for stakeholders and groups with an interest in STEM education, cyberlearning issues, and in partnering with NSDL. Users may:
- Create a Community Network personalized account -- follow aspects of the Community site you are most interested in
- Learn more about and register for the 2009 NSDL Annual Meeting (Nov. 17-19, 2009, Washington DC)
- Post to and subscribe to the Community News
- Follow and participate in multiple features, including
- What We're Reading - advising the NSDL community about reports and articles of interest, and enabling contribution, file upload, and comment on posts
- Vote Up or Down
- Calendar of Events - create new events for professional development and outreach activities, meetings, etc.
- Discussion Forums/blogs - contribute your opinion to an existing forum, or start a new one
- Group Workspaces - create a working group area
- Project Updates - provide brief, regular updates on your NSDL project activities, accomplishments, and developments to keep the community informed
- Follow NSDL on Twitter
- Provide Community site feedback
NSDL.org remains the go-to site for educators and students to discover and use STEM learning resources at all levels, to learn about and link to NSDL Pathways projects (disciplinary and audience-focused portals that are part of of NSDL), and for library developers to gain essential information on technical infrastructure and services of NSDL (Participate in NSDL).
