This virtual manipulative enables the student to arrange sides and angles to construct and demonstrate the necessary and sufficient conditions for proving triangles congruent. The student drags line segments and angles to form triangles and can flip formed triangles as needed to show congruence. The student can select from options for constructing triangles given three sides (SSS), two sides and the included angle (SAS), and two angles and an included side (ASA). The applet also allows the student to experiment with the ambiguous case to find two triangles that are not congruent, given two sides and a non-included angle (SSA). Instructions for using the applet and a link to the NCTM standard for geometry are included. Copyright 2005 Eisenhower National Clearinghouse
