| Collection Description: | The Middle School Portal: Math and Science Pathways (MSP2) identifies digital resources that support reform-based middle school math and science teaching and learning. Its Mathematics Pathway and Science Pathway present standards-based publications that take an in-depth look at teachable concepts in math and science. All resources are examined with the following criteria in mind: content of the resource is accurate; it promotes student learning; it aligns with one or more national math and/or science education standards; it is grade-level appropriate; it promotes equity and access; and the resource is easily navigable. A blog called Connecting News to National Science Education Standards encourages science teachers to integrate current events into their instruction. Users can also search or browse by subject lists and register to be notified when new content is posted to the site. |

Intended users include students, educators and citizens of all ages, in both formal and informal learning environments. The collection favors resources that convey linkages and connections; the general with the specific, theory with evidence, global with local, and that demonstrate the application of science to solving real world problems. This includes providing access to Earth data sets and imagery, and the tools and interfaces that enable their effective use. DLESE resources are community-contributed, by individuals, organizations, and formal collection efforts. |

| Description: | Recycle City contains an interactive city map that demonstrates how residents of every section of the city, formerly Dumptown, have recycled, reduced, and reused waste to turn their town around. There is a Dumptown Game with a Control Center to monitor displays while Dumptown changes as waste reduction programs are put in place. Students can create their own Recycle City scavenger hunt or go to the Activities area and see other ways to put Recycle City to use to help protect the environment. |

The Dumptown Game Requires The Shockwave Plug-in Version 6.01 To Operate.
