Resource Title:Towers of Hanoi : algebra (grades 6-8)
Description:This online version of the classic Towers of Hanoi puzzle features three spindles and a graduated stack of discs with the largest disc on the bottom. The student solves the puzzle by moving all discs from the original spindle to a new spindle in the smallest number of moves possible while never placing a larger disc on a smaller disc. The manipulative keeps track of the number of moves that have been taken. The student selects the number of discs, ranging from two to eight, and can click the reset button to return all discs to the original position on one spindle and restart the counter at zero. Instructions for using the manipulative and a link to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) grade 6-8 standard for algebra are included.
