| Description: | This publication about the environment supports middle school teachers in building interdisciplinary learning experiences that incorporate technology, science, and mathematics. The publication features hand-selected online resources about the aquatic environment, wastewater treatment, and pollution. A comprehensive environmental program is also highlighted. In the introduction and throughout the rest of the publication, technology is shown to be both a menace and a help to the environment. Most of the featured resources are either activities that students engage in online or instructions for hands-on lessons and activities for the classroom. Teaching tips and descriptions of each resource are offered. Also included are relevant excerpts from the national technology, science, and mathematics standards. The featured resources come from collections in the National Science Digital Library (NSDL). Links are provided to the original collections and to catalog records further describing each resource.
