Understanding Search Results
The search results page presents a list of resources (the search results list) that match the information requested in your search. Resources on this page are ranked and listed according to their relevancy to your search. Resources at the top of the list are more relevant and the first resource was determined to be the most relevant to your search.
Resources are ranked by:
- Number of times each word appears in the resource—determines how well the resource matches the search word
- A word appearing once in a short field is ranked higher than a word appeaering once in a longer field, where field refers to categories of information about the resource
- A word appearing in a resource's title or description is worth more than the same word appearing somewhere else in the resource—these results appear higher in the search results list
For multiple word searches
- Number of search words found in the resource
